In 2008, PAA artists Peter Soave and Carpe Diem String Quartet joined forces to create a unique fusion of their musical identities. Peter's virtuosic mastery of the music of Argentinean composer Astor Piazzolla and Carpe Diem's unique versatility and passion for audience engagement combined into a program entitled ¡Viva Piazzolla! They perform Piazzolla's masterworks Libertango, Oblivion, Escualo, and more in an intimate and accessible concert setting.  These performances sold out venues in Michigan and Ohio in the 08-09 season.  Their music engages a wide age range and a culturally diverse audience.

In the 09-10 season, the ensemble will continue their unique performances.  They will perform and record a new work written for Peter by Venezuelan composer Aldemaro Romero. Peter Soave had the great honor of connecting with Romero through Astor Piazzolla's impressario and publisher, Aldo Pagani, and was immediately drawn to Romero's rhytmically charged, generously melodious and refeshingly optimistic sound. Five Paleontological Mysteries for accordion and string quartet was dedicated to Peter and named in honor of the composer’s son Dr. Aldemaro Romero, Jr.'s (Biologist at Arkansas University) discovery of five new fossils.  The ensemble will also expand their repertoire to include more music by Piazzolla and other South American composers.
